Important Dates for 2025

• June 9th: Deadline for Changes of Address for Primary Election

• June 14th: Deadline to Register to Vote in Primary Election

• June 14th - 22nd: Days of Early Voting for the Primary Election

• June 24th: Primary Election

• October 20th: Deadline for Change of Address for General Election

• October 25th: Deadline to Register to Vote in General Election

• October 25th - November 2nd: Days of Early Voting for the General Election

• November 4th: General Election

Qualifications to Register to Vote

In New York State, you must register in advance before you can vote.

In order to register to vote, you must meet the following requirements:

• be a United States citizen;

• be 18 years old (you may pre-register at 16 or 17 but cannot vote until you are 18)

• resident of NY state and the county, city or village for at least 30 days before the election;

• not be in prison for a felony conviction;

• not be adjudged mentally incompetent by a court;

• not claim the right to vote elsewhere.

How and Where to Register to Vote

• You can register to vote online using the New York State Board of Elections' Online Voter Registration portal.

• You can register in person at the Dutchess County Board of Elections or at any New York State Agency-Based voter registration center.

• You may also submit your voter application form at the Department of Motor Vehicles, either in person or on their web site if you already have DMV-issued identification.

• You can request a New York State Voter Registration form by mail.

• You can call NY's 1-800-FOR-VOTE (1-800-367-8683) hotline to request a voter application.

• You may contact the Dutchess County Board of Elections to request a NYS Voter Registration Form by calling (845) 486-2473.

• Fill out this NYS Voter Registration Form, and mail to Dutchess County Board of Elections
